Michael Mathews

Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board

Michael Mathews has served as the Company's Chief Executive Officer and a director since March 2012 and as Chief Executive Officer of Aspen University Inc. ("Aspen University"), a subsidiary of the Company, since May 2011. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Interclick, Inc. ("Interclick") (Nasdaq: ICLK) from August 28, 2007 until January 31, 2011. From June 2007 until it was acquired by Yahoo, Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) in December 2011, Mr. Mathews also served as a director of Interclick. From May 15, 2008, until June 30, 2008, Mr. Mathews served as the interim Chief Financial Officer of Interclick. From 2004 to 2007, Mr. Mathews served as the senior vice-president of marketing and publisher services for World Avenue U.S.A., LLC, an Internet promotional marketing company. Mr. Mathews was selected to serve as a director due to his knowledge of the for profit education industry, his commitment to a "debt free" education, his track record of success in managing early stage and growing businesses, his extensive knowledge of the online education and Internet marketing industries and his knowledge of running and serving on the boards of public companies.

Robert Alessi

Chief Accounting Officer

Robert Alessi was appointed Aspen Group’s Chief Accounting Officer on December 2, 2019.  He recently served as the Vice President, Financial Controller for Prometheus Global Media, a New York City based media company where he managed the accounting and reporting functions.  Mr. Alessi is a Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) and brings over 20 years of experience in financial accounting, SEC reporting, Sarbanes Oxley compliance and cash management.  He was previously the Controller for FunctionX, Inc., a social publishing and interactive media platform.  Earlier in his career, held positions as Vice President and Controller at KCAP Financial, Inc., and G Trade Services Ltd.  He started his professional career at Ernst & Young, in their Financial Services and Advisory group.

Gerard Wendolowski

Chief Operating Officer

Gerard Wendolowski has been the Company’s Chief Operating Officer since March 11, 2014. From May 2011 until March 11, 2014, Mr. Wendolowski served as Aspen University’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. From January 2008 until May 2011, Mr. Wendolowski was the Vice President of Marketing at Atrinsic, Inc., a digital marketing agency.

Dr. Cheri St. Arnauld

Chief Academic Officer

Dr. Cheri St. Arnauld has been the Company’s Chief Academic Officer since June 11, 2017. Dr. St. Arnauld previously served as Aspen University’s Chief Academic Officer beginning March 6, 2014. From January 2012 until March 6, 2014, Dr. St. Arnauld was an educational consultant for the St. Arnauld Group. From August 2008 until January 2012, Dr. St. Arnauld was the Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Grand Canyon University.

Dr. Anne McNamara, Ph.D., RN

Chief Nursing Officer, Aspen University

Dr. McNamara is a nationally known nursing leader with more than 40 years of experience. Her background in nursing education has given her the skills to not only develop new nursing school campuses but also to work with healthcare systems and organizations across the United States. Dr. McNamara, formally the Dean of Nursing & Health Sciences at Grand Canyon University, has been working as a full-time consultant for Aspen University for the past year and has managed all aspects of Aspen University's first BSN pre-licensure campus in Phoenix, AZ.

Frank Cotroneo

Chief Financial Officer and Director

Frank Cotroneo is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Core Business Consulting, LLC, which he started in 2004 to provide professional consulting services to private and public companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500. Projects include strategic and financial planning, business development, capital raising, capital restructuring, third party vendor management, ERP and financial systems implementation, internal control improvements, risk management, and leadership development. In 2008, Mr. Cotroneo joined Netspend as their Audit Committee chairman then stepped down to become their COO and CFO. He finalized a major acquisition, restructured the company's capital structure during the financial crisis of 2008 and led process change efforts to reengineer their corporate finance, IT and customer service departments in preparation for a successful IPO. In 2006, Mr. Cotroneo was appointed CFO for Acxiom Corporation, in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he was brought in to defend the company in a shareholder proxy contest brought by ValueAct and to improve the company's overall financial management, ERP systems and supporting processes. In 2000, Mr. Cotroneo joined H&R Block as CFO where he held that position for almost four years. From 1988 - 2000 Mr. Cotroneo held various finance positions with MasterCard International, including being promoted in 1996 to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at MasterCard headquarters in Purchase, New York. Previous board roles include Intrix Technology in Rosemont, California from 2011-2016; Achieve Financial Services from 2010 to 2012 in Austin, Texas; Netspend audit committee chairman, Austin, Texas in 2008; Interclick (Nasdaq: ICLK) audit committee chairman from 2010-2011 until acquired by Yahoo!; and Adknowledge, Kansas City, Missouri audit committee chairman from 2012 to 2018. Mr. Cotroneo was selected as a director for his over 30 years of experience in the Financial Services, Fintech, Payments and Technology sector and his experience serving on the audit committees of public and private companies.
